TRAINERS

Peggy Persico Peggy Persico is an experienced riding teacher and horse trainer. She specializes in dressage and believes any horse can benefit from classical horsemanship, from a western quarter horse to the most stubborn Welsh pony. She has been riding and training horses at many different barns since she was a young teen, and studied equine science at University of Wisconsin, River Falls. In Montana, she worked as a large and small animal veterinary technician for 20 years, gaining extensive knowledge on horse anatomy, lameness and movement, which she applies to her training and teaching. At Cattail Stables, which she owns and operates, Peggy applies classical principles to all forms of riding and interaction. She concentrates on the rider’s position and helping students understand how their seat affects the horse’s movement. She has taught all ages, and welcomes new students of all abilities, from those who have never ridden to those who may have ridden as children but want to come back to riding. Peggy lives in Missoula with her partner Mat, two boys Alex and Chip, three dogs and an outspoken cat.
